What stays on your Mac
Your desks and settings are saved in a file in ~/Library/Application Support/Deskswap. When Deskswap swaps Desktop files, it moves them into a folder on the same Mac. Nothing is uploaded or copied anywhere else.
The Next meeting and Reminders widgets read your calendar and reminders on your Mac, only after you allow it in macOS. Deskswap also reads your list of shortcuts and your list of apps to show them in its settings. None of this is sent anywhere.
What Deskswap sends
Deskswap connects to the internet for two things: your license and updates. When you activate, it sends our payment provider, Dodo Payments:
- your license key,
- your Mac's name, as set in System Settings → General → About, so you can tell your Macs apart.
About once a day after that, it checks the license is still valid by sending your license key and the ID Dodo Payments gave this Mac's activation.
If your Mac's name includes your own name, you can change it in System Settings before activating.
About once a day, and when you choose Check for Updates, Deskswap asks GitHub, where its releases are published, whether there's a newer version. That request includes Deskswap's version number and, like any request, your IP address; nothing else. You can turn automatic checks off in Deskswap → General.
Deskswap has no analytics, crash reporting or advertising, and sends nothing about how you use it.
When you buy
Deskswap is sold through Dodo Payments, our Merchant of Record. You pay on Dodo's checkout page, and Dodo processes and stores your payment details under its own privacy policy. We never see your card number.
We can see your name, email address, country, order and license key in Dodo's dashboard. We use them to deliver your license, handle refunds, answer support emails, and meet tax and accounting rules.
This website
This site sets no cookies and uses no analytics or tracking. Like every website, our hosting provider keeps short-lived server logs, such as IP addresses and the pages requested, to run the site and keep it secure.
When you download Deskswap, the site counts the download. So that downloading twice counts once, it keeps a scrambled code made from your IP address, your browser's name and a secret value. The code can't be turned back into your IP address, isn't linked to anything else about you, and is only used to count how many people have downloaded Deskswap. Your IP address itself isn't stored.
Emails
If you write to krushnarout.dev@gmail.com, we keep your message to answer it and to help if you write again. We don't send newsletters or marketing email.
How long we keep it
Purchase records are kept as long as tax and accounting law requires. Everything on your Mac stays until you remove it. Uninstall Deskswap puts every Desktop file back; after that, deleting the Deskswap folder in Application Support removes your desks and settings too.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal data we hold about you by emailing krushnarout.dev@gmail.com. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under laws such as the GDPR, and you can complain to your data protection authority.
Children
Deskswap isn't aimed at children, and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version appears here with a new date. If a change affects what Deskswap sends from your Mac, we'll say so in the release notes too.
